Marin contacted me to handle the cinema mix for the documentary “La Cellule”, produced as part of Sailorz Film Festival, an event presented by CIC that highlights films dedicated to the world of sailing and maritime adventure.
The film
This documentary takes a deep dive into Gitana’s weather routing. An essential unit that supports Charles Caudrelier during solo races. On land, 24/7, a team of technicians monitors and anticipates every situation the skipper of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild might encounter at sea. While the technical unit is well known to the public, the weather routing team remains more discreet. Yet, it plays an equally strategic role, staying constantly connected to onboard data to guide the skipper through the unpredictability of the weather.
My work for this documentary re-recording mix
The mixing challenge was intense and condensed. Indeed, completed in just two days, it required extensive sound cleaning and processing. However, it was essential to maintain the documentary’s unique aesthetic. The goal was to preserve the authenticity of the voices and atmospheres while delivering a clear and immersive result, worthy of a national screening.
A project as demanding as it was exciting, which immersed me in the fascinating world of sailing and self-surpassing.
